Annual Conference, October 7-9

SMART Recovery will host its 2011 Annual Conference from October 7 through October 9, 2011 at the DoubleTree Hotel BWI.

Volunteers, face-to-face meeting and online participants, board members and friends of SMART Recovery will enjoy:

• The opportunity to personally meet one another
• The ability to network with one another
• The chance to share successes
• The occasion to help determine ways forward for the organization
• The chance to feel part of an international community of people helping one another

The Conference will begin with a Welcome and Opening Remarks provided by Dr. Peter Cohen, Medical Director of the Administration, State of Maryland Alcohol & Drug Abuse Office. Session topics range from organizational updates, advancements in the field, Recovery Month updates, how to present SMART Recovery to treatment programs and referral resources, and a half day devoted to understanding the SMART Recovery tools and effectively employing them in meetings. There’s something here to interest everyone!

A Friday afternoon optional tour will depart promptly from the hotel at 2:00 PM for the Inner Harbor. Options include a visit to the National Aquarium, the USS Constellation, or wandering Baltimore’s lovely Inner Harbor. It’s a great way to network and get to know other Conference participants!
