These are instructions for MAC users
Go
to http://www.paltalk.com/express/
Click on “Try
PalTalkExpress Now”
If your computer asks you to trust the program - say yes.
If you do not have Java loaded on your computer you will need to load it to run PalTalk - to do so you will need to go to www.java.com/getjava/ click on the get Java button.
If you think it is already installed - click ok
If you want to test to see if you have Java installed on your computer Click here
The first time you come to PalTalk you will need to "join"
Click on the "Join Now" button
Fill out this form using the nickname you want to be addressed as.
When you finish - click on register.
NOTE - some people have had difficulty with this page. Some bug or glitch in their system I guess. If nothing happens when you click on register - refresh the page which takes you back to the Welcome to PalTalk page where you will have to click the "join now" button again. When creating this document I had to go back several times before the registration actually worked - so keep trying.
Now you are ready to chat.
In order to find the room click on the Rooms Browser
In the space next to the go button type "SMARTRecovery" and then click go
This room is not listed unless an admin is present.
So you can not see it unless we are there.
Click on the SMARTRecovery Room and it will open and ask for a password. That password is currently the word ------------ donate --------------
IMPORTANT NOTE: The SMARTRecovery room does not exist until an admin opens it.
And there you are - ready to chat.
To talk you click your mouse on the "Push to Talk" button and hold the button down while talking.
Only one person speaks at a time. If you want to talk you may "raise your hand" by clicking on the "Hand Raise" button and you will be next on the talk list.
****One important hint about getting settled in any meeting. Please do not try to figure out what all the buttons do if the meeting has started. It creates a real distraction for the facilitator and those who are there to work on their concerns, particularly the new folks. Just sit back and be a part of the meeting. After the meeting ends - there will likely be someone there who can help you figure out all the bells and whistles.****
